Queen City Dog Training Club is a Member of American Kennel Club


Membership Requirements for joining Queen City Dog Training Club

Associate - For persons 18 years or older who are in good standing with The American Kennel Club and meet the following requirements;
(1) Shall have actively participated (trained and/or taught) in the training classes at QCDTC for a period of six (6) months. For qualified persons, the option to instruct or assist may be approved by the Training Director.
(2) Shall have attended at least two (2) regular meetings of the Club, or fulfilled such service requirements as specified by the Board where it is shown an applicant cannot attend two regular meetings.
(3) Shall have shown a willingness to serve the club in some capacity by participating in at least one club sponsored activity while working toward their membership.
(4) Shall complete the application form.

The application form requires the sponsorship/signatures of two Club Members in good standing, normally one of which is an instructor under whom the applicant has trained. The completed application form shall be submitted to the Membership Committee after applicant has met all three requirements. Annual dues of $30.00 shall accompany application. (New members voted upon between 1 July and 31 December shall pay a pro-rated one-half of the annual dues.) The application will be read at the next scheduled membership meeting after all membership requirements have been verified. The application will be voted upon (in the applicant’s absence) at the following meeting. A two-thirds affirmative vote of those present and voting shall be required to elect said applicant to membership.

Associate members may apply for Regular Membership (includes the right to vote and hold office) in QCDTC after one year.


Junior - For all persons 12 to 17 years of age meeting the following requirement. Junior Members shall enjoy all club privileges except the right to vote and hold office.

(1) Must have actively participated in the training classes of the Club for a period of six months (normally three classes). At the discretion of the Board of Directors, Junior Membership status may be granted when the applicant has participated in the training classes of the Club for a period of at least three months and has received at least one ‘leg’ towards an AKC obedience title.

Junior Members must apply for regular membership upon reaching their eighteenth (18) birthday. No further qualifications are needed other then any additional dues payment.

The membership requirements for Associates and Juniors must be completed within the 12-month period prior to application for membership.

MEMBERSHIP ENTITLEMENTS
(1) All Club Members shall receive a copy of the Constitution and Standing Rules, the Annual Yearbook, and all publications of QCDTC.
(2) All Regular and Lifetime Club Members have the right to vote on club issues and hold office. All members have the right to be recognized in all discussions concerning Club matters. Members are encouraged to attend general meetings and keep themselves current on all club issues.
(3) All Club Members (except Inactive) enjoy reduced training fees, but are required to make a reservation and pay the required training fee(s) with the appropriate Registrar. Members also receive reduced fees at seminars and enjoy free training time in the building.
