Emphasis will be on clicker shaping, handling on the flat, start-line stays, types of agility recalls, foundation skills for agility obstacles, and beginning 2 on 2 off contact behavior. Students will be asked to participate in the setup and tear down of equipment.  Prerequisites: *Recommended age minimum of 8 months to allow for immediate progression to Agility 2.  Successful completion of at minimum Basic Obedience 1 or equivalent.  Dogs must be under control in group situations and able to focus on their owners.   Please bring:  A friendly dog, many small soft treats, a clicker and a happy handler.  *Agility 2:  This course is the second in a series of core courses designed to give the dog and handler a strong foundation in agility skills. The emphasis will be on jumping with collection and expanding agility recalls to include one jump. Weave poles will be introduced with emphasis on correct entries. Dogs will begin to learn confident Teeter performance. Prerequisites: Agility 2 advances to weaves and jumping.  Dogs should be a minimum of 1 year of age before full height jump training or closed weave work.  (Large dog should be 14-16 months unless X-rays determine growth plates have closed).  Recommended minimum age to begin foundation weave and jump training in Level 2 is 10 months.  * Successful Completion of Agility 1 at QCDTC or* Instructor Approval – contact Registrar for full list of prerequisite skills * Dogs must be responsive to clicker shaping* Supplies: Many soft treats, one jump, and three weave poles. (The jump may be purchased or made at home, and the Three weave poles (electric fence posts) can be purchased at Tractor Supply or bought at any home improvement store.)  *Agility 3: This course will continue correct jumping recalls and weave entries. Major emphasis of this class will be contacts. Contact behavior will be the 2o2o method. This method was chosen because of the benefits to handlers and safety issues with beginning agility dogs. In order to avoid confusion, other behaviors on the contacts will not be permitted during class time. Participants of the class who prefer an alternative method of contact behavior will be permitted to work on other skills during contact instruction. Contacts will begin low and be raised to medium height by the end of the session. Practice on weave entries using wires will continue. A very low teeter will also be used. Short sequences of 4-6 obstacles using contacts and incorporating jumps involving collection will be done. This class may be combined with Agility 3 if not enough students to constitute a class. *Mastering Master Skills: Skill work for a clean run!!  We will run Masters level course and work on different skills each week (rear cross, weave entries, contacts, discriminations,  building distance, serps, 270’s, depending on what the students need).  Appropriate for Open and Excellent level teams and others with instructor’s approval.  Jane Dewey* Master Handling:  This class is designed to test your handling skills by running a full course making every effort to get a qualifying  “clean” run.  Students will then have the option to re-run the course using different skills to see if those choices improve the results.  Excellent/Masters, (Open with instructor permission) must be able to do 12 weaves.  Sandy Covich*Agility 4 Fun:  This class is designed for the handler who primarily wants to have fun with his/her dog.  It will be a learning and educational experience with fun and camaraderie as the most important goals.  Dogs must be proficient on all obstacles and have at least completed Agility 4.  Dogs should be capable of running a Masters level course broken down into two segments and able to perform 12 weave poles.  Sandy Covich  *Open/Excellent Skills:  Are you ready to be challenged on full courses?  Get comfortable with appropriate level courses and challenges.  This will be an opportunity to identify challenges and run courses under the guidance of an experienced competitor and instructor.  Beth Janos*Young At Heart:  This class is designed to help the older handler/dog team solidify their skills while learning ne “thinking outside the box”.  Students are encouraged to increase their knowledge by watching fellow students’ runs, and adding their suggestions to the instructor’s comments.  The most important component of this class is the sense of joy we all experience with playing with our dogs.  No negativity allowed.  Class requirements:  the dog must have skills equivalent to AKC Ex/Master level or CPE Level 4, the student must consider having fun with our dogs and camaraderie amongst fellow students to be of the utmost importance.  The occasional “youngster” might be allowed if a good bar-setter.  Maryann Chappelear*Tuesday Novice/Open Skills and Drills:  All new teams need to explore what handling options work for them.  This class will allow you to try difference options within a sequence and get comfortable with a variety of handling options.  For pre novice to open teams – a minimum of 6 weaves required, 12 weaves preferred or instructor approval.
