Puppy Kindergarten
The goal of puppy kindergarten is for handlers to establish a foundation for controlling and training their puppies. Emphasis is placed on socialization, constructive play, and the rudiments of obedience - sit and down on command, walking on a leash, and coming when called. Positive training methods are used, incorporating food lures, toys, encouragement, and praise. Information on general care, house training, and puppy problems also is provided.
Puppy kindergarten is open to puppies aged 8 weeks to 6 months. Puppies must have had one set of shots before coming to class.
Puppy Play & Socialization Group
This will be a play group for puppies 8 weeks to 6 months held on the last 3 Tuesdays of each month from 7pm to 8pm.
This is not a formal class, just a play group. This will be a drop in class costing $5.00 per night, with no pre-registration required.
Puppies must have 1 set of shots to come and play.
There will be a monitor present to keep order within the group.
Puppy Bridge to Obedience
Open to dogs 1 year and younger. Prior enrollment in Puppy Kindergarten is recommended, but not required. We will focus primarily on loose leash walking and beginner heeling. There will also be targeting exercises taught with a clicker. Your dog can learn to touch your hand or a touch stick for movement control, and touch a mat (go to mat). This is also an opportunity to discuss some of the adolescent issues that arise as your puppy matures.
